6 pics that prove some bonds are stronger than time

I will be 87 in September. My best friend was 87 in March. We met in first grade in 1940. We started college together in 1952 and were fraternity brothers. We both married in the same chapel on campus within 60 days of each other in 1957. I was his best man and he was mine. I went on active duty in the USAF for 12 years but we always maintained contact. My daughter is named after his wife. Both of our wives are dead, his at age 93 and mine at 61 of inoperable brain cancer. Our routine was to be the first to wish each other a Happy Birthday, by phone, e-mail or text message no matter where we were. Despite my having been stationed literally all over the world, we have never been out of touch and have both lived and both practiced law in the Indianapolis metropolitan area since the early 1970s. A friendship of 81 years and still strong.

My BFF and I have know each other since we were very small. we lived next door to each other. We were joined at the hip, did everything together. She is almost 76 and I am almost 75 so that is 70 years of friendship. She still lives in Utah, I live in Washington state, but we still keep in touch by sending cards to each other, Christmas, Easter, Birthday or the occasional phone call Whenever, I go home to Utah, we at least call each other if not try to have lunch together.

I still have my childhood friend from our diaper days. 87 years and counting.

I have friends that I've had since kindergarten. Even though we don't see or talk to each other for years at a time, when we do, we pick right up where we left off. Great friends are for a life time. I can relate to the pets that are your best friends for life. In my 64 years on earth, I have had many. When my time comes, I know that they will all be waiting for me on the other side & that makes me happy.

My wife and I knew each other when we were in diapers, but never married until I was 27. We're married 36 years but have been together a lifetime.

Chriss Crockford, Thank you for your kind comment. When his mother died, my condolence/memory letter to him was the only thing the minister read at her funeral. We became brothers...without the sibling rivalry.

Steve Tingle, I haven't been able to keep in touch with anyone for more than a couple of decades, even with current digital connections.

My theory is it applies to women more than men, my mother and 3 close friends from school remained in touch until death, or dementia struck, the three friends were God mothers to my two bothers and I.

The comments are very impressive! I too have a friend who took care of me as an infant. I’m now 76 and she is 89. We live in different states but still keep in touch. I also had a cat that was a rescue and kept me loved for 18 yrs. Animals are loyal also.

I have a friend since birth. Our mothers were pregnant at the same time. She’s like a sister to me since I’m an only child and my parents are gone now. We’ve been friends for 78 years and counting. Also have many long time friends I’ve met over the years, some since I was 11 years old.

I read the stories and love that people have stayed in touch all these years. How lucky to have friends like that. I do love the pet stories because animals are so loyal, too.

The picture of my little friend is my profile pic. I had her for twenty years before she died in 2017. I found her when she was a kitten and felt graced to have such a fine furry friend.

the d n a has always getting more and more interesting 2 generations ago 6 out of 10 sibling had lukemia the others had diabetes one of the sibling daughter was a carrier her 3 kids died one at a young age the other 2were over 50yrs they died within a week apart they tested the carrier and found she was the reason the kids died talk about something so hurtful to find out after they past you fig out your blood type and and factors , love and friends and family and their smiles

Still friends 59 yrs later Went to the same High School and became friends in Grade nine. 59 yrs of friendship get together with her when I go home to visit
